Our Conceptual Construct- a ‘Finishing School’ for Accountants

Our Honourable PM’s mantras of becoming ‘Vocal for local’ (especially during and after the spectre of Covid-19) and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat have inspired our largely altruistic conceptual construct of setting up a Pan- India chain of finishing schools for Accountants- with a vital difference. Our schools (both physical & virtual), will mainly cater to accounting students from the lower end of the socio-economic strata and strive to equip them with the basic skills required to be gainfully employed in the MSME sector.
We hope that our unique model of imparting affordable classroom and Practical Training (academics + apprenticeship), to undergraduates & graduates from both commerce & non-commerce backgrounds, in the fields of accountancy & legal compliances, enabling them to be absorbed in MSME’s as accountants will serve as building blocks for delivering on the two mantras referred to at the start of this section.
Firstly, we aim to uplift the weaker sections of society by opening the doors of employment- even one employed member of a family will result in a sea- change in their living standards. This in turn, will fuel their upward mobility along the social ladder.
Equally, we aim to impart efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity gains to the vast populace of MSMEs, by making our ‘finished products’ available to them, at costs that are not intimidating. More so since, we intend using our considerable leverage in the MSME circles to help our wards attain appropriate placements.
Thus, we shall continuously strengthen the employee-employer ecosystem for the MSME sector, that is vital to the nation’s development, and has thus far been neglected. This will be our humble contribution to both ‘Vocal for local’ and ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’.
Our curriculum structure is a direct derivative of the required skills, or rather the skill-gaps identified in the preceding section. In a nutshell, it is a unique 6- month combination of classroom and project report- based workshop training using real-time accounting data. The key facets (skills) that will be polished, tested, and certified are Business Communication and Soft Skills, Basic Accounting (with emphasis on implementation of accounting software), Basic IT Skills, HR Practices, Banking, Insurance, GST, Taxation & Statutory Compliances (covering digital record- keeping & online filing of returns). In addition, the much- needed people skills will be developed via interaction with actual clients during the apprenticeship period. Obviously, there will be slight variations between the contact & online versions!
